Here at UCR, we offer the following master's degrees:
M.S. in Mathematics
M.A. in Mathematics
M.S. in Mathematics (Applied)
The master's programs are designed for those interested in various career opportunities. Math graduates typically pursue careers in business and industry, teaching mathematics at the community college level, or becoming eligible for doctoral programs. Our programs are designed to be completed in 1-2 years; which is contingent on the pace of the student.

UCR Catalog Requirements

M.A. and M.S. in Mathematics
Requirements include:
- Complete two of the following sequences: Algebra, Applied Mathematics, Complex Analysis, Topology, and/or Real Analysis with a grade of “C” or better in each course and a GPA of 3.0 in each chosen sequence.
- Complete 36 units of mathematical courses.
- Complete a 2 unit course in Professional Development.

M.S. in Mathematics (Applied)
Requirements include:
- Complete two of the following sequences: Applied Mathematics, PDE, and/or Real Analysis with a grade of "C" or better in each course and a GPA of at least 3.00 in each chosen sequence. A sequence consists of all courses with the same course number except for an alphabetical suffix. Any course without an alphabetical suffix is not part of a sequence.
- Complete 36 units of mathematical courses.
- Complete a 2 unit course in Professional Development.
