John C. Baez
The book Knots and Quantum Gravity is the proceedings of a conference held at U. C. Riverside on May 14-16th, 1993. It contains the following papers:
- The loop formulation of gauge theory and gravity, by Renate Loll.
- Representation theory of analytic holonomy C* algebras, by Abhay Ashtekar and Jerzy Lewandowski (also available as gr-qc/9311010).
- The Gauss linking number in quantum gravity, by Rodolfo Gambini and Jorge Pullin (also available as gr-qc/9310025).
- Vassiliev invariants and the loop states in quantum gravity, by Louis H. Kauffman (also available as gr-qc/9310035).
- Geometric structures and loop variables in (2+1)-Dimensional gravity, by Steven Carlip (also available as gr-qc/9309020).
- From Chern-Simons to WZW via path integrals, by Dana S. Fine.
- Topological field theory as the key to quantum gravity, by Louis Crane (also available as hep-th/9308126).
- Strings, loops, knots and gauge gields, by John Baez (also available as hep-th/9309067.
- BF Theories and 2-knots, by Paolo Cotta-Ramusino and Maurizio Martellini.
- Knotted surfaces, braid movies, and beyond, by J. Scott Carter and Masahico Saito.
I edited this book, and it was published by Oxford University Press in 1994. Unfortunately this book is now out of print. Fortunately I have the rights to this book, so you can get it for free in Postscript form simply by clicking here. Unfortunately, the book in its present form is missing the title page and all the figures. Fortunately, I may get around to fixing some of that. Unfortunately, it won't happen right away. Also, I should warn you that the book is 229 pages long: your printer may not like such a large file (though 1.4 megabytes doesn't seem so large anymore).
