Representing the Ameircan Mathematical Society (AMS) in the Western US and Canada. As such, Dr. Lapidus will be the AMS official in charge of the scientific organization of the Fall 2010 Meeting of the Western Section, which will take place at UCLA, October 2rd - 4th, 2010 as well as of the AMS Einstein Public Lecture (to be given at UCLA by Terence Tao in conjunction with the AMS Meeting, on October 3rd), and of the Spring Meeting of the wester Section, to take place in Las Vegas on April 20th and May 1st, 2011 at the University of Las Vegas.
