Assistant Professor of Teaching, Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Teaching, Mathematics (LPSOE), beginning June 30, 2016. The position parallels the tenure-track faculty series and will involve instructing and developing the department’s first year mathematics program. A PhD in mathematics and demonstrated excellence in teaching is required. Experience with curriculum development, innovation in teaching and educational grant writing is desirable.

The duties of the Assistant Professor of Teaching position in Mathematics will consist of: 6 courses per year of lecture instruction as assigned by the chair, and the direction of the Precalculus/First Year of Calculus program (including instructional pedagogy development and improvement, textbook evaluation and selection, TA training, etc.). The successful candidate will be expected to develop curricula and instructional initiatives, including development of extramural instructional/education grant proposals in consultation with other faculty. Publication of pedagogical innovations, assessment methods, or original mathematics in high-quality peer-reviewed journals will be encouraged.
